Why

In a world inundated with blogs, websites, and social networking services why would I consider another forum of information and discussion necessary?

Let me answer not with the “why” but stating the “why nots.”

This blog is not due to a narcissistic personality.  There are plenty of people who believe their opinion, voice, and thoughts are of such value to the world that the human race could not possibly survive without their input.  I am not one of those individuals.  In the book of Ecclesiastes, the wisest man to ever walk planet earth, Solomon stated, “There is nothing new under the sun.”  Narcissistic people believe their ideas are revolutionary and their opinions life changing.  The only opinions and or thoughts I have are comments and observations based on the only standard of true communication – the Bible.  Therefore, I do not believe I have a “corner on the market” of truth or communication — God already holds that title.

This blog is not something I want to do.  The obvious question is, “then why are you doing so?”  The answer is in the by-line of the blog title.  

“Having something to say rather than having to say something.”

There has come a point in my life and ministry where I believe I need to and thereby must “speak up” regarding life, its foundational principles, and understanding how best to live it.  This perspective is derived from 2 Tim. chapter 4 which communicates that a time will occur in humanity’s existence where EVEN THE BELIEVERS in Jesus Christ seek out teaching and wisdom from those who “itch their ears.”  There is so much “ear itching” taking place in our world today I feel compelled, no rather “called” to address matters.

In conclusion, this blog is not for me, its for you.  The Lord has blessed me with a faith in Jesus Christ that originated 29 years ago, a Christian family both then and now, 13 years of theological education, and 19 years of ministerial experience.  It is a joy and pleasure when people approach me with questions regarding faith, scripture, and how to live in light of both; however, many of their concerns are due to the fact that they have heard the communicators who itch ears.

If you have ever felt “There has got to be more to this life than this . . . “; “Things just don’t add up . . .”; “I know the truth is out there somewhere . . .”; then you have a found your blog.  I used to be where you are.  My goal is to help you go beyond wherever you are now.  Get on the wagon — it will be a fun ride.
